This Drugstore Bridal Beauty Look Is Going Viral on Reddit
The United States wedding industry is worth $3 billion a year, which means that amongst other things, folks are throwing down loads of cash on dresses, venues, and, of course, wedding-day makeup. But one Redditor set out to do things differently, at least in the beauty department, and her low-cost look is getting lots of love on R/MakeupAddiction.
A Redditor who goes by That_Cat_Girl took to the forum to share before and after photos of the bridal beauty look she’s planning to recreate on her wedding day. “I’m practicing doing my own makeup for my wedding in April. My goal is to still look like myself and keep it pretty natural,” she wrote. The post got almost 1,000 comments from fellow makeup lovers reaching out to compliment the look and offer wedding makeup tips.
The natural, subtle look was created with a full face of drugstore makeup. She used Physicians Formula Mineral-Wear Loose Powder as a base and Revlon Rosy Rendezvous powder blush on her cheeks. For full, filled-in brows, she used a gel from Wunderbrow topped with powder from Maybelline Eyestudio. For shadow, she blended shades from UCanBe Aromas New Nude palette with a CoverGirl brow powder.
Commenters are especially in love with her lip color, which was a soft, flushed hue a few shades darker than her natural lip shade. She opted for Covergirl Outlast Lip Color in Natural Blush, an $8 liquid lipstick duo that comes with a moisturizing topcoat. (No chapped lips at the altar, thank you very much.)
“I wear a lighter shade every day for work and swear by it,” she explained in the comments. “It lasts longer than anything else I’ve tried and once it does start fading by the end of the day it’s really subtle and doesn’t create weird lines. And I really like the top coat gloss it comes with.”
The best place to shop for your wedding day makeup might just be your local drugstore, and this gorgeous look proves it.
